Elias Shafer specializes in the placement of partners. While he has successfully represented partners in Florida, North Carolina and Illinois, his main area of concentration is Atlanta, Georgia. In fact, his two most recent partner placements in Atlanta were facilitating white collar specialist Keith Barnett’s move to Troutman Sanders (August 2015) and Ethan Cohen, commercial litigation partner to Holland & Knight. (Sept. 2015). He has other deals in the works- all Atlanta based.
Elias currently has been engaged on several searches for outstanding national and regional firms in Atlanta. Some are with clients we have been working with for more than two decades. Elias ‘s present focus is: complex business litigation, general corporate, real estate, intellectual property and health care. In addition, he has been engaged on several assignments in the insurance space and is actively recruiting partners with practices in professional and products liability, insurance defense/ coverage and labor and employment. Elias has developed a knack for understanding the partner’s financial and career objectives – and making great matchups. Elias and Esquire President Sandy Lechtick are collaborating on a number of outstanding engagements . Elias started in the legal search and placement industry in 2009. He has successfully represented more than 20 partners and made placements at firms including: K&L Gates; Troutman Sanders; Parker Poe; Adams & Reese; Lewis, Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith ; Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman, Goggin.
Elias started his sales career as an account executive for a medical device manufacture based out of Iceland. He was an account executive handling the company’s podiatry -related prosthesis and medical devices for hospitals, clinics and private practitioners. After four years in the health care industry he was approached by one of his best friends who ran a successful executive search firm. Intrigued by the nature of the business and his growing distaste of constant traveling, he decided to change his focus and entered the placement business. He joined Esquire Inc. in 2014. Elias has unusual hobbies. As a Polynesian from the Pacific Islands, he enjoys playing the ukulele, learning native Samoan dance, singing for a local band and spending time with wife and 2 sons.
