Esquire is one of the largest legal search firms in California and has been consistently ranked in the top echelon of attorney placement. Incorporated in 1991, Esquire specializes in the representation of partners, practice groups and law firms in acquisitions and mergers. In the last twenty years we have handled a dozen law firm mergers and placed more than 400 partners.
"Esquire hit a home run," said James Thompson, former four-term Governor of Illinois and Chairman of Winston & Strawn on placing key partners for the firm's new Los Angeles office.
"An outstanding job in facilitating the merger of Hosie Wes Sacks & Brelsfold" (Silicon Valley and San Francisco), said Robert Giles, managing partner of Perkins Coie.
"Your professionalism and adherence to confidentially were most important" wrote Timothy Scott, former litigation chair at Sidley & Austin on Esquire's successful representation of he and his group to King & Spalding where he is managing partner (Silicon Valley).
"Your highly effective representation of me is consistent with the three partners you placed with me eight years ago," wrote Mark Wine, intellectual property chair and managing partner at Orrick, Herington & Sutcliffe in Orange County. "The best job I ever had."
Esquire specializes in facilitating the moves of partners and groups, performs retained and non-retained partner searches for major law firms and corporations and assists in strategic and geographic expansion. Our recruitment focus is California, although we are active in Texas, New York, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Arizona, Florida and Nevada.
We believe the barometer of a search firm's effectiveness is not the deals they did years ago when the market was hot, but their success today - especially during a challenging and fluid post - recessionary business/legal environment. In short, in evaluating a search firm's effectiveness, one might pose a few threshold questions: "What deals has the search firm done lately? What is the depth and breadth of their placement track record across the board? Do they truly understand the market and possess long term relationships with decision-makers?"
Esquire has, we believe, handled more partner and group transactions throughout the State at large and small firms this year than any other legal search firm in California.
