Re: Of Counsel – (Finance Department) Placement at Orrick, Herrington

December 29, 1995
This is long overdue, but I want to thank you and your colleagues at Esquire for the superb work you all did in placing me at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. Now, almost a year later, your professionalism, enthusiasm, courtesy and diligence still impress me.

As you may recall, when I was contemplating leaving my previous employer, the lateral market for senior associates was very limited and I was very concerned that I be presented only to top-quality law firms that would effectively advance my career. Unlike some other recruiters, you did not try to submit my resume to everyone that might even possibly be interested, but instead took the time to evaluate my strengths and weaknesses and, with my involvement every step of the way, we developed a small list of prospects that we decided to concentrate on intensively.

I was particularly impressed by the number of employment opportunities of which you were aware that other headhunters did not have access to, the speed with which you presented me to the chosen firms and with which you obtained responses from them, and, most importantly, the invaluable information you shared with me regarding the legal market generally and my likely employers specifically.

I especially appreciate the knowledgeable and unbiased assistance you offered in helping me evaluate the pros and cons of all my employment options (including remaining with my previous employer), all without any pressure or "sales job" whatsoever. I actually enjoyed receiving (and returning) your phone calls, which is not a statement I can make with respect to too many other recruiters. Thank you again for a job well done, and best wishes for 1996.

Sincerely,
M.S.
