Bernard Gehlhar has joined LeClairRyan as a shareholder on the firm’s Product Liability and Transportation and Commercial Litigation teams. He will be resident in the national law firm’s San Francisco office.
Gehlhar focuses his practice on the representation of consumer product companies, defending them in product liability litigation, advising on regulatory and corporate issues and assisting with contractual matters. He also has experience with a broad range of civil litigation matters, including class actions and other complex cases.
He defends professional liability matters on behalf of mortgage brokers, insurance agents and brokers, third-party administrators, investment advisors, securities broker-dealers and attorneys, among others. Additionally, Gehlhar defends claims of breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and vicarious liability for the acts of employees and agents.
Finally, he has extensive experience with appellate proceedings. He frequently drafts briefs and argues before the California Courts of Appeal and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in matters involving a range of substantive areas, including professional liability, product liability, general liability, business torts and ERISA. Gehlhar is a graduate of Cornell Law School (J.D.) and the University of California, Berkeley (B.A.). He is admitted to practice in California.
